Food & Farming
The land at Heydon is farmed in a unique collaboration with our neighbours at Salle.
Andrew Peal leads the Salle team in
collaboration with Poul Hovesen and together they oversee the management of the land at Heydon.
Poul is nationally recognised as a pioneer of modern agriculture and was promoting the importance of soil structure, fertility and extended crop rotations long before the term regenerative agriculture was invented. Crops grown include a wide rotation of wheat, malting barley, oilseed rape, sugar beet, maize and beans. Cattle and sheep graze Heydon Park. Much of the farm is in Environmental Stewardship, which ensures the land is managed for food production but also improves wildlife habitats and maintains the traditional character of the landscape.
