Farming & Conservation

The Heydon Estate is farmed in partnership with its neighbours.  The crops grown include a rotation of wheat, malting barley, oilseed rape, potatoes, maize and beans. Much of the farm is in Environmental Stewardship which is a scheme that promotes sustainable agriculture.  The scheme aims to ensure that the land is farmed for food production but also to promote and improve wildlife habitats and to maintain the traditional character and features of the landscape.
